first_imgThe New Zealand capital – Wellington – has opened the doors on the city’s first Double Tree by Hilton property and, to celebrate, Hilton Honors members will earn an additional 1,000 Bonus Points per night – up to a maximum of 3,000 Hilton Honors Points – for stays from July 1 2018 through September 30 2018, when booking directly with Hilton.Wellington’s DoubleTree by Hilton hotel has opened in the iconic T&G building, in the heart of the CBD on Lambton Quay, in the city’s premier shopping area. The 106-room hotel will be managed by Hilton, under a franchise agreement with Sarin Investments.DoubleTree by Hilton Wellington joins two other DoubleTree branded properties in New Zealand, which are located in Queenstown and Christchurch. “Opening a DoubleTree by Hilton property in the country’s capital is a huge milestone and really represents the brand’s confidence in the continued growth of the Wellington market, and reinforces our commitment to double Hilton’s footprint in New Zealand within the next five years,” said Heidi Kunkel, vice president, operations, Australasia.The historic T&G building, which was built in 1928, was one of the city’s first office towers. The hotel design complements the rich history of the building; attributing Chicago-style architectural elements and fine art deco interiors with marble, copper and wooden accents throughout. The property features 106 stylish guest rooms, including 14 spacious suites, all accessible with digital key through the Hilton Honors app, a restaurant, a bar, a gymnasium, secure parking and a boardroom.
