first_imgHAVEDZI 5-0 AFRICAN ANGELSChampions Havedzi Mighty Warriors marked the start of their title defense with a 5-0 thrashing of hapless African Angels. It was an uninspiring first half of very few goal mouth actions but the second half of the game was a complete contrast of the first with Eugene Dekpey scoring the first hat trick of the season within a space of 10 minutes. The third half saw further damage inflicted with Eugene grabbing his fourth of the game before Freeman Nyadedor completed the emphatic victory. The result will be viewed by many as a statement of intent by the defending league champions in their quest to retain their crown. SUNSET SPORTS 3-0 TESHIE UNITED Sunset Sports followed up in the manner of their rivals with a 3-0 thumping of Teshie United. The former Champions had never lost a game against the Teshie side and the victory ensured that the streak continued. Tibo Agbese registered the first goal of the game in the 3rd minute before Michael Sema scored a brace in the 14 and 28th minutes to put the game to bed. There were a few nervy moments at the back though for them – instances that will spark debate and comparisons with their rivals, Havedzi as to who is better poised for the league title this season.  LAYOCA 2-3 DANSOMANThe Accra derby between La Yoca and Dansoman was expected to thrill fans who had trooped to the Arena and it certainly did not fail to excite with sizzling display from both sides. Ezekiel Botwey and Frederick Okessi’s goals in the 5th and 7th minutes gave Dansoman and early two goal cushion. La Yoca were keen not to go down without a fight as they pulled one back through star man Moses just a minute afterward. Dansoman’s two goal lead was however restored with Frederick Okessi grabbing his second, Isaac Ofori again reduced the deficit to one as his team pushed for the equalizer but try hard as they did it wasn’t to be as Dansoman emerged victors in the first derby of the campaign with the game ending 3-2.Wuo Gb33 7-0 Winneba GiantsThe biggest result of the day saw Wuo Gb33 annihilate Winneba giants by seven goals to nil. Aminu Moro scored the first for the Eaglez in the sixth minute before going on to miss glorious chances in the game. Hohan Joshua scored twice in either sides of the first and second session to give the eagles their first three points of the campaign. SEA LIONS 2-1 TEMA UNITED Sea Lions were made to work hard for the three points as they beat Tema United by two goals to one. The game for large sessions looked like it would be the first drawn game of the season after early goals by both sides in the fiftth and sixtth minutes. Kwabena Gustavo’s close range effort in the dying embers of the game however was enough to give the Lions the 3points and their first win of the season. ADA ASSURANCE 4-2 NUNGUA UNITED There were concerns about what kind of performance the 2012/2013 runners up were going to put up this season after their disappointing campaign last term, but all those issues were put to bed with their inspiring 4-2 thumping of Nungua United. Joseph Lawer netted a brace in the opening two minutes of the game to set the victory in motion. Ebenezer Laryea got one back in the fourth minute to give the lads from Nungua some hope of a comeback, but those hopes were quickly dashed as Lawer got his third and fourth goals.
