PLAYA VISTA — The banner ad at Clippers.com nudges fans to consider voting for four Clippers for this year’s All-Star Game: Tobias Harris, Danilo Gallinari, Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell – the latter two of whom are reserves.Ordinarily, it might seem as though potential All-Stars ought to be in their teams’ starting lineups. But promoting Williams and Harrell makes sense for the 21-15 Clippers, whose bench prowess has a ton to do with the team’s success so far.The Clippers’ reserves are the highest-scoring unit in the league, accounting for 52.4 points per game, ahead of second-ranked Brooklyn, whose bench averages 46.3. They also rank in the top 10 in assists (11 per), field-goal percentage (48.7 percent), 3-point percentage (36.5 percent), rebounding (19.4), blocked shots (2.6) and steals (3.1). A lot of teams don’t do that,” Rivers said. “We’re fortunate that our guys do. It’s funny, there’s several guys that just don’t want to start. ‘No, I want to be on the bench.’ That’s refreshing. Usually, you have one guy like that, but when we have four or five guys like, ‘Keep our unit alone,’ you know you’re onto something and that’s good.”PIVOT TO VIDEOThe Clippers on Monday tried something new, releasing a short documentary about their starting small forward entitled, “Tobias Harris is Flourishing.”The seven-minute video, which was posted on YouTube, follows Harris through a recent day, including riding shotgun as he navigated L.A. in his white Mercedes. It also depicted a dry erase board at his home with his workout schedule and a clear motivational note: “All-Star mentality! See it, think it & believe it.”The feature, which also introduces viewers to Harris’ journey to the NBA while splicing in on-court highlights and soundbites from a number of notable NBA figures, was produced entirely in-house by the Clippers’ content team over the past month. It’s expected to be the first in a series of feature pieces chronicling the team’s players.Harris, who was among the first players at work on the court before Monday’s practice in Playa Vista and unavailable for comment, tweeted a link to the video afterward: “All Glory to God!!” he wrote. “Blessed to play this game I love and use the platform to motivate and inspire.” For Lakers’ LeBron James, Jacob Blake’s shooting is bigger issue than a big Game 4 victory Related Articleslast_img read more
