Dare, who spoke through Peter Nelson, the Ministry’s Director of Planning/member of the festival’s Main Organising Committee, said there was no cause for alarm. He said: “The 20th NSF, tagged: ‘Edo 2020,’ is on track. “The Games will go on as scheduled. “There is nothing to be worried about.” Nelson disclosed that Dare had directed the setting up of an isolation centre to take care of any case of the virus. He said: “The Ministry’s Director of Sports Medicine is already working closely with the Edo State Government to ensure a hitch-free Festival. “We have no doubt that everything  will work well.” Nelson said the rumour about postponing the Festival was unfounded and emanating “from mischievous people whose wish cannot come to pass. “We are on top of the situation and we are going to have a very successful Festival.” He assured that the Ministry was on course in all preparations, after its officials embarked on an inspection last week. He said: “We found out that all the facilities are almost ready, with finishing touches being put on some. “To underscore the importance and readiness for the Festival, the Minister had met last week with officials of the Ministry of Health and a delegation of WHO to collaborate on  how to curb communicable diseases like tuberculosis and  other viral infections.” The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the 2020 NSF is billed to hold from March 22 to April 1 in Benin.Tags: CoronavirusEdo 2020Edo State GovernmentSunday Darelast_img read more

(AP Photo/Kyusung Gong)ExpandANAHEIM — The Angels demonstrated on Wednesday night that they are worth watching, no matter what the standings say. There’s Mike Trout, and Shohei Ohtani. And even Albert Pujols still occasionally will do something historic.Trout belted two homers and Ohtani hit one monster shot, part of the Angels’ 11-3 drubbing of the Chicago White Sox at Angel Stadium. After losing the first two games of the series against the last-place White Sox, the Angels put everything together in a rollocking victory.“We did a lot of things the way we need to do on the field,” Manager Mike Scioscia said. “It’s not always going to materialize in this many runs, but it was fun to watch.” This time he added a homer to right, to go with his first-inning blast to left. Trout now has 28 homers this season. It marked the 13th multi-homer game of Trout’s career, and his third this year. He drove in four runs for the second time this season. It was particularly impressive that Trout could have that kind of night when he’s been seeing so few strikes lately. He walked six times in the previous two games.“Just keeping my strike zone and being patient,” Trout said. “When I’m trying to do too much or getting out of my zone, that’s when I get in trouble.”In between Trout’s homers, Ohtani launched a 446-foot blast to right-center in the fifth inning. It was the second-longest homer of the nine he’s hit this year, which have all come at Angel Stadium. He hit a 449-foot homer in April. It was the first time in the three months that Trout, Ohtani and Pujols have been in the lineup together that they’ve all homered in the same game.Somewhat lost amid the offensive outburst was another strong performance from Skaggs, who now has a 1.44 ERA over his last eight starts.Skaggs, who had some first-inning trouble lately, said he went through his warm-up routine in a more methodical fashion this time.“Instead of throwing to get loose, throw with actual intent,” he said.It worked. He began the game in dominant fashion not seen in a generation with the Angels. Skaggs struck out the first five hitters of the game, the first Angels pitcher to do that since Jim Abbott on Sept. 19, 1995.Related Articles Skaggs retired the first 10 hitters — seven on strikeouts — before allowing a hit. The White Sox hit a couple balls hard against him in the third inning, including an Avisail Garcia 108 mph grounder that skipped past Andrelton Simmons for an error, and they scored two runs, one earned. After that, Skaggs tacked on two more zeroes before turning the game over to the bullpen to finish off the comfortable victory.“It definitely makes baseball a lot more fun,” Skaggs said of the offensive outburst. “I go out and feel like I’m pitching well. We’re scoring a lot of runs. It’s good to be an Angel when that happens.”Games this could almost make an Angels fan forget that the team is still 51-52 and 10-1/2 games behind the Seattle Mariners for the second AL wild card spot. With less than a week to go before the trading deadline, there figure to be changes coming for the Angels, but Scioscia was giving no hints before Wednesday’s game.“I don’t think there’s an hour that goes by that Billy (Eppler) is not looking to improve our club,” Scioscia said. “I don’t think he would shy away from trying to make us better, but I have no indication either way.” Angels offense breaks out to split doubleheader with Astros Clippers, Mavericks brace for the unknown in Game 4 Jose Suarez’s rocky start sinks Angels in loss to Astros center_img Tyler Skaggs gave up one earned run in six innings, striking out nine, as he continued his stretch of dominance. Kole Calhoun and David Fletcher each had two hits. Even slumping Luis Valbuena had a two-run double.Sign up for Home Turf and get exclusive stories every SoCal sports fan must read, sent daily. Subscribe here. And Pujols had a couple noteworthy accomplishments. He hit  homer No. 631 — to pass Ken Griffey Jr. and move into sixth on the all-time list. He also stole his first base of the season, when White Sox pitcher James Shields ignored him and he was halfway to third by the time he released his pitch.“It seems like every hit or homer or double he’s passing somebody,” Trout said. “He probably passed someone with that stolen base. He puts that cape on every once in a while. It’s pretty cool.Despite all that entertainment, the night belonged mostly to Trout, with one more memorable highlight added to Ohtani’s reel. It came on the first night that the Angels put Ohtani in front of Trout in the batting order.Trout opened the scoring with a solo homer in the first inning. He doubled in the third. After getting hit by a pitch in the middle of the Angels’ four-run fifth, he came up in the sixth with runners at the corners.
