I was training them very light during the month of January . . . hopefully I’d like to get a breeze in before the race but I don’t know. I might not have a chance.“When it’s raining hard, I just keep them in the barn. During February and March, the three-year-olds change physically. I remember American Pharoah (2015 Triple Crown champion), his body type changed during those months. It started getting longer.“We’re all in the same boat with the weather, but the main thing is to keep my horses healthy. We already know they can run.”Instagrand, meanwhile, who had been mentioned as possible for the San Felipe, instead will make his three-year-old debut in the Grade III Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct on March 9.“After discussing races with Larry (owner Larry Best) we decided that would be the best race for him,” said trainer Jerry Hollendorfer of the undefeated son of Into Mischief, winner of his two starts by a combined margin of just over 20 lengths. The Gotham is a one-turn mile, “so it seems a little bit more appropriate than trying the San Felipe.”BIG SCOTT DADDY SET FOR PASADENA RAIN OR SHINERain or shine, Mike Puype has Big Scott Daddy in prime pouncing position for Saturday’s $100,000 Pasadena Stakes for three-year-olds scheduled at one mile on turf. The bay Scat Daddy colt would be making his grass debut after just two races, including a third-place finish on a sloppy track at one mile Jan. 31.“We’re prepared to go, either way,” Puype said. “I know we’ve got a lot of rain coming tonight, so we’ll see what happens. It will make conditions a bit questionable tomorrow.”The field for the Pasadena, race six of 10 with a 12:25 p.m. first post time: Stubbins, Tyler Baze, 7-2; $2,000 supplemental nominee Much Better, Joe Talamo, 9-2; Eagle Song, Drayden Van Dyke, 8-1; Colonial Creed, Geovanni Franco, 4-1; Shining Through, Flavien Prat, 12-1; Rijeka, Mario Gutierrez, 3-1; Mayor Cobb, Tiago Pereira, 15-1; Neptune’s Storm, Kent Desormeaux, 5-1; and Big Scott Daddy, Mike Smith, 4-1.STRONACH 5 TODAY GUARANTEES $100,000 POOLToday’s Stronach 5, featuring races from Laurel Park, Gulfstream Park, Santa Anita Park, and Golden Gate Fields, will have a guaranteed pool of $100,000 as well as an industry-low 12-percent takeout.Last week’s Stronach 5 pool swelled to more than $1 million and rewarded 83 bettorswith $10,945.40 each. This week’s Stronach 5 kicks off at 2 p.m. PT at Laurel Park and heads south to Gulfstream for two races before moving to Golden Gate and Santa Anita.             Stronach 5 past performances here.                 Friday’s Stronach 5 sequence: Leg One – Laurel Park 9th Race – (8 entries, 1 1/16 miles) 5 ET, 2 PTLeg Two – Gulfstream Park 10th Race – (13 entries, one-mile turf) 5:17 ET, 2:17 PTLeg Three – Gulfstream Park 11th Race – (10 entries, 1 1/16 miles turf) 5:47 ET, 2:47 PTLeg Four – Golden Gate Fields 5th Race – (12 entries, 5 ½ furlongs) 6 ET, 3 PTLeg Five – Santa Anita Park 5th Race – (12 entries, 6 ½ furlongs turf) 6:15 ET, 3:15 PTThe minimum wager on the multi-race, multi-track Stronach 5 is $1.
